Description

Revit uses a different file system than Keynote Manager. Sometimes this may cause Revit to be 'out of sync' with the actual data in the keynote file requiring a reload. This can be done automatically with Keynote Watcher or manually with the reload button.

Keynote Reloading

The Problem

Keynote Manager uses an active file system to allow communication with multiple users as necessary and to show valid and up to date data at all times. Revit, however, only reads the keynote file when opening a project or when told to do so either through the API or through the keynote settings dialog (accessed from the Annotation tab of the ribbon).

Because of this difference it is possible to have made changes to the keynote data that show up correctly in Keynote Manager and in the text file but do not show up correctly in Revit yet.

The Solution

Keynote Manager offers two solutions to this problem. One is the automatic reload functions of Keynote Watcher. However this can cause conflicts between users in workshared projects due to the fact that the keynote table is a single element checked out by reload. The other solution is the reload button. Users may simply turn off Keynote Watcher and use the reload button when desired to force Revit to reload the keynotes.
