Licensing

Keynote Manager licenses can be purchased in three modes, standalone licenses, floating licenses, or portable licenses. If you have already purchased, see the appropriate section below to activate your license. If you have not purchased you may do so when you are ready by visiting the Revolution Design purchase page.

A description of the three licensing types is as follows:

1. Standalone License - This license is a traditional license scenario. Each license is tied to a specific computer and is activated once per machine. For example, if you purchase 3 standalone licenses you will receive an activation key good for activation on 3 separate computers. Once activated, licenses can only be moved to another computer by contacting Revolution Design and uninstalling the software from the previous machine.
2. Floating License - This license allows the purchasing company to purchase a pool of licenses to be hosted on a network server. Floating licenses can be shared between any number of users but the total number of users may not exceed the total number of licenses available. For example, if you purchased 3 floating licenses you could install the program on 50 or more computers (no limit) but no more than 3 would be able to use the program at the same time.
3. Portable License - This license is similar to a floating license but instead of a local license database the licenses are hosted on the web (on the Revolution Design license server). This requires internet connection to check out and return licenses, but licenses can be checked out from anywhere that connection is available. Portable licenses can also be checked out in one location, taken offline, and returned later when connection is available again.

To activate a standalone license you simply need to activate the license on the machine on which it will be used. The steps to activate a standalone license are as follows:

1. Open Keynote Manager or Revit (for Keynote Manager +).
2. If you have a floating license and your database has already been created:
   1. Select the link that says 'Select Floating License Database' and browse to select the database.
3. If you have any other type of license or your database has not yet been created:
   1. Enter your activation key and press the 'Activate' button - the dialog should now say 'Your license has now been activated' and show you your license type. If this is not the case please contact Revolution Design for assistance.
   2. If your license is portable, there will be a checkbox stating 'Remember my license key on this computer'. Leave this box checked if you would like you key stored on the machine so that your portable license can be checked out automatically next time. Uncheck this if you are on a shared computer and do not want your license automatically stored on that machine.
   3. If your license is floating, when you leave the license activation dialog you will be asked where you would like to store the license database. Select a location that is accessible to all users that will need a floating license.

You may see data about your license and/or modify it at any time by going to About -> License Information (Standalone Application) or Revolution Design Ribbon -> Keynote Manager + Panel -> About -> License Information (Revit integrated application).
