View Reference Master allows you to place reference sections and callouts quickly based on the sheet number and detail number rather than searching through a long list of possible views.

Note: View Reference Master is not available for Revit 2012.

This command places a reference section cut.

Instructions:

1. Click on "Reference Section".
2. A dialog pops up (shown above) where you select the sheet first, then the detail you want to place and click "Place Ref".  If the detail you have selected is not the correct type, the “View Type” dialog will be RED… otherwise it is gray.
3. There is a check box at the bottom of the dialog that will allow the user to place a reference section cut in one of two ways...

• Option 1: Pick two points. This is the default option and is similar to the typical method for placing a section cut where the head is the first point picked and the tail is the second point picked. Unlike the “typical section tool”, however, the user does not see a relationship between the two points picked while using View Reference Master. So, to deal with this limitation, the command will snap to the closest 45 degree increment of the two points picked. This should be adequate for many building types.
• Option 2: Select one or more detail lines to host the section cut  The detail lines needs to be a straight line.  The end points of the detail lines are used to determine the end points of the section cut. If using option 2, the same reference section can be placed at multiple locations in a view if multiple detail lines are selected. If using this option, the user has selected one or more detail lines, click “finish” to create the section cuts.

4. The section cuts are placed!

Usage Notes:

1. Certain views do not accept section cuts and the command does not work in such views. Examples: section cuts and callouts can't be placed in sheets and schedules.
2. If using a detail line to host the section cut, it needs to be straight and a detail line.  The tool will not let the user select anything else.
3. section cuts will only allow certain types of views to be referenced (placed).  If the selected view is not acceptable, the view type label will be red.

This command places a reference callout.

Instructions:

1. Click on "Reference Callout".
2. A dialog pops up (similar to "Reference Section") where you select the sheet first, then the detail you want to place and click "Place Ref".  If the detail you have selected is not the correct type, the “View Type” dialog will be RED… otherwise it is gray.
3. Draw a rectangle to locate the reference callout extents.
4. The callout is placed!

Usage Notes:

1. Certain views do not accept callouts and the command does not work in such views. Examples: section cuts and callouts can't be placed in sheets and schedules.
2. Callouts will only allow certain types of views to be referenced.  If the selected view is not acceptable, the view type label will be red.

This command relabels views on sheets, making the view name equal the sheet name and detail label.

Instructions:

1. The user should review the check boxes to confirm options; see usage notes below.
2. The command will  relabel all views that are on sheets to  “_sheet num_detail num”

Usage Notes:

1. There is a check box to ignore the plan views.  In many cases, a user would not want to relabel plan views with the sheet and detail label.
2. There is a check box to place the current view name in the “Title on Sheet” parameter. This option is available so that
3. There is a check box to add an "X" to the start of the view names if a view that was previously renamed was moved off of a sheet.  This is so you can see if there are some details that were previously on a sheet, but now are not.
