Description

Info link is a feature that allows the user to define links to external files or locations relevant to a specific keynote. These links can be of any file type and allows users to quickly find and open other project data relevant to a keynote.

This system uses the same xml data file that the comment system uses, so it can be modified by anyone with knowledge of xml and an xml editor. Caution is advised, however, as changing the format or values outside of Keynote Manager could cause unexpected results.

Creating Links

To define a link for a keynote either right click on the keynote, select it and select External Data->Add Link from the top menu, or select it and use the 'Add Link' button on the left side toolbar. This will prompt you for 2 values:

  • Name - This is simply a readable or descriptive name you give to the file so that you know what the link goes to. It is required but can be anything you want.
  • Link - This is the actual path to the location to open. For files on local or network drives you can use the browse button and locate the file. For web locations copy the entire path from your web browser and paste it into the box. This field is required.

Once you have links defined for a keynote the expandable links palette will appear below the keynote description. This palette can be expanded to show all links related to this keynote and allows editing, removing, or a simple click to open the file or location. The manage links option will list all links available for that keynote and allow you to add, edit, or delete them in a standard dialog.
